The Supplies Wishlist

March 4th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

We all have one. If you’re a craft/art addict, your list is miles long. Most items can’t really be justified and some say the list is indicative of hoarding. No one can ever have enough craft supplies, yes? When you craft, it’s so easy to cross the fine line of hoarding. I’m trying to be logical about mine- the key word here is trying.  Here goes!

  • DMC Light Effects Metallic embroidery floss – the full range
  • More blues
  • More browns
  • dark oranges
  • teals and aquas
  • Lighter violets
  • purples
  • A sturdy reinforced bag to hold my current projects
  • Embroidery Scissors
  • Various colours of tiny seedbeads
  • A tin from the dollar store to store said vials of seedbeads

It is so easy to make a mile long list. When I see supplies, all I see are endless possibilities of future projects. Therein lies the trap.

N.B. Leah’s hoop is 95% done, Carmy’s and Drew’s hoops will be prepared this weekend. I hope to get Carmy’s done by Tuesday night.

A Shopping List

February 4th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

This is the sorry state of my embroidery little container thing. I really do need a better organization system, etc. for my threads.

With the Alice in Wonderland project completed, I am now buying more supplies and restocking. This was the first embroidery project I’ve ever done and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. Because the project was a success and I really enjoyed it, I can justify getting more supplies. I know I had to deliver with results because the husband has seen way too many unfinished projects. Instead of spending money to get supplies for an unseen/uncompleted project, he has the results now and is more comfortable funding my new hobby. I hope to be proficient enough to fund my hobby myself eventually.

I’ve already figured out what my next project will be. You will see the sketch tomorrow.

As for the shopping list, I just got a whackload of embroidery and felt.

Embroidery:

  • DMC floss
  • plastic bobbins
  • storage for bobbins
  • bobbin winder
  • DMC silver and gold metallic floss
  • 8 embroidery hoops
  • 8 pairs of wooden stretcher frames

Felt:

  • Silver Grey
  • Royal Blue
  • Purple
  • Goldenrod
  • Yellow
  • Ruby
  • Peacock
  • Orchid
  • Orange
  • Neon Green
  • Hunter Green
  • Cadet Blue
  • Baby Blue
  • Apple Green

I have a ton of ideas I want to execute and I hope to be proficient enough to produce perhaps a new piece every other month. I want a good collection of art by the end of 2011.
