This is what I’ve been working on recently. Yes, it’s Cinderella. As you can see, I have branched out to using sequins and bugle beads. I hope to continue expanding my repertoire as well as my sequin stash.
I hope to be done this soon. I was planning on doing a Rose Red and Snow White piece afterwards but The Little Mermaid keeps haunting me. We’ll see what I’ll do after this is done.

Tin Man and Lion from Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz
I’m still here. I’ve been dealing with a looming health issue and it seems like everything I’ve been working on has been taking forever to finish. I have three projects on the go at the moment yet none has progressed very far. The order is descending from least progress to most:
1) Blythe – The weather has been either too cold or too rainy for me to use the sealant for the faceup and the painting of the eyelids
2) Snow White – It is taking forever!!! The lacework is killing me.
3) Doll Lingerie – I’ve just recently started this and it’s taking a while as well. This project has given me more progress than the other two.
I am still waiting on 3mm pinking shears I bought from eBay. I hope it comes in soon. I know starting yet another project isn’t really wise but I want to do something that has instant gratification. I want to see considerable progress as soon as I can. I think my mini quilts will do the job.
I hope you are all well! Happy Chinese New Year! What are you toiling on?

Snow White WIP #2 - Whitework
The whitework is taking so much time but I’m really loving the subtle effects. I hope to get all the whitework done soon so I can start on the black lace of the background.
There was a big storm yesterday and migraines galore. I’m still plugging through though and managed to make a bit more headway into my Blythe custom. I’ve carved the lips and philtrum. I’ve installed the handpainted eyechips I’ve finished a few days ago. Lacroix is coming along and it’s taking a while but it’s getting there. I’ve already told myself not to go too fast. There is no rush.
What are you working on? Are you enjoying the snow?

Prepped Hoop and Canvas
The 12″ hoop with the white patterned fabric is for Snow White. The colourful covered canvas (18″ x 10″) is for Hansel and Gretel. They are ready to go!
I will be double-fisting these projects. Snow White will have a lot of white work and the colour palette will be red, black, peach, and white. I’m thinking of adding another colour to the mix but overall it will be a simple palette.
Hansel & Gretel will be an explosion of colours and beads. I just know it.
Are you planning anything special projects after Christmas?

Dorothy WIP #4
Dorothy is progressing…. slowly!
I dropped off my artwork yesterday at the Aboveground and also indulged in art supplies! I couldn’t help myself. I got two wooden canvases, tiny paintbrushes, a tombow dual brush set, ink pens, and varnish/gloss. Oh, and the adorable zippered kitty pouch! Thanks to my friend Fishie who gave me a GC. It helped with the financial damage of the day. 8D

Aboveground
December is gonna be busy. I’m still working on a Secret Santa embroidery gift. I should really get on that now.
If you want to check out my work, it will be shown at the Aboveground (it’s right beside OCAD in downtown Toronto) for a month:

Dorothy WIP #4
I’ve been dealing with epic migraines and various health issues recently. I haven’t been able to do anything creatively in a while. Today was the first time I had an afternoon to myself to get a post done. Normally at this time, I’ve been curling in fetal position drowning in pain. Every time it rains, my head breaks open to allow a monster screwdriver to stab into my brain. That’s how my pain feels like.
I’ve had a chance to work on Dorothy for a bit and I hope to get this piece done before Nanowrimo. I also want to get mini projects done during Nanowrimo for breaks.
So many ideas and so little time! I hope the rain lets up.

Dorothy WIP #2
All the gang are here! The applique process is done and it’s time for my favourite part- beading and embroidery detailing! I’ve been doing really well progress wise with this piece. The Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow are in dancing poses. It’s a play on the words “Ding Dong!” which I will be embroidering/beading somewhere on the piece.
I’m also still writing on the side. I write all day in snippets and I’ve started a plot chart. I’m onto plotting chapter 7. I hope I can post some sample characters or even excerpts in this blog when I finish. I can’t believe the amount of work I’m getting done despite wrestling with migraines on a daily basis and running after a 1.5 year old.
I hope your day is as productive as mine!

Dorothy WIP #1
Back to my bread and butter! Whoo hoo! After this, I am determined to do a rectangular piece of Hansel and Gretel. It feels good to be back to what I love doing. Beading and the details are what brings me the most joy though but this is danged close enough. I will start on the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow tonight. I hope to also add a flying monkey in the top left corner.
What are you working on?

Swan Girl WIP #3
It’s coming along as well as I hope! I will be adding more swan feathers then start the embellishment of the ballerina outfit.
I am preparing myself for the Dorothy piece and I definitely need to hit up a bead store either in person or online. I need to buy a TON of red beads.
If anyone is interested in any pieces I’ve done, please feel free to contact me.

Swan Girl WIP# 1
This is Swan Girl which is based of Odette from Swan Lake. I have the swan beak mask on her face. I have yet to sew in the strings that hold it in place. I’ll be adding a crown to her hair as well as braids. There will be beading all throughout the bodice of her ballerina dress. I will also have swan feathers gracefully floating around her. I just need to figure out where I’ll add the words “Swan Girl” into the piece. I like how it’ll look whimsical yet quirky design-wise. I prefer these mini portraits to be more like psychological profiles for these fairy tale characters.
After this, I will be working on another big piece in a hoop. I haven’t decided yet if Midsummer Night’s Titania and Bottom, The Wizard of Oz’s Dorothy asleep in the field of poppies, or Hansel and Gretel will be the subject. I thought I’d be doing the former but my brain keeps waffling over what I really want to do. Which subject do you prefer?
