I got my pieces back from my framer Agnes at Delhi Photo & Frame. They look stunning! I’m really pleased. Each piece cost about $40 to frame. In the future, I will only frame the larger pieces. I’ll be selling the smaller ones. I’m off to the County Fair office this afternoon to fill in my entry forms. I’m just really pleased at how they turned out.
On the writing front, I think I’m really onto something. I’ve changed my concept completely. Ideas are pouring in. Characters are being fleshed out. I am setting the deadline for world building/character sketches for Oct 30. I want everything to be done so I can start writing my novel for Nanowrimo.

The Cloak of Doom
It’s done. The cloak of doom- beading and white tree embroidery is done. Just need to sculpt the hooves and horn. All the sculpting will be done after Natalie’s in bed. It’s finally getting done!

Swan Girl Detail #2
She is finished! I think she is more of a personal piece for me. I’m quite pleased with her exaggerated proportions and the white work details. I’ve learned so much in doing the fine details such as the feathers. With each project finished, I feel more confident about my style, colour choices and my skills. I’ve been hand sewing close to four years now. I started with learning to make doll clothes which I still do and yearn to do. I will be working on a magazine submission in the future. I’ve gotten into embroidery just this January and I am in love with the art. I find that with embroidery, the results match my ideas. It’s hit and miss with other pursuits.
On another note, I do like having mini projects in between. I had enough time working on her to figure out what I need to do for Dorothy. Dorothy will be as intense and complicated as Little Red. I’ll be using the same sized hoop. I’m starting it tonight.

Little Red
She is finished! I believe I started July 12th and this piece is now done. It’s a ton of work but I’m really pleased with it. There are so many details I didn’t capture. I find it more satisfying to see it in person. I’ll be taking a hiatus for a bit. I’ll be doing some sketching, crafting, etc. The next piece is already planned and sketched out in my head.

Rococo Cinderella Detail
She is done! I was thinking of embroidering the background or adding more but I really love how beautiful the fabric’s print is. I am going to start prepping a new large hoop for Little Red tonight and get started on that. I don’t think I can part with this piece. I really love it and how it turned out. More pics to come when she’s framed.
I’ve learned so much about beading in doing this. I’ll be entering this piece at the County Fair. I just don’t know for what category yet.

It’s finally finished! I can’t believe how much I enjoyed beading. I definitely will integrate more beading into future projects. I had a ton of fun on this one.
I haven’t decided yet whether I should put it up for sale on Etsy. If so, how much would you price it at?

Fairy Tale Yarn Wreath
Fairy Tale Yarn Wreath Detail
The theme for my daughter’s room is fairy tales. This is a yarn wreath I’ve made for her. It has an apple, a glass slipper, and a magic mirror. Project is done and will be hanging in Natalie’s room once Robert puts the special hook up.
Back to embroidery and experiments tonight!

FTIP #1: The Little Mermaid
This is a piece I posted a long time but it is the first entry in my Fairytale Illustration Project. This is meant to complement my embroidery. I have a Little Mermaid piece underway which I’ll need to work on soon. I have a small black portfolio which will contain all the art. I love that I can just flip through the pages once it’s done. Every artwork will be 5″ x 7.”
I started a painting but it turned into a complete fail because I used too many mediums. Ah well. I now learned that I will be doing all future works using coloured cardstock for the background. They will all have this in common and perhaps I can see my style/work evolving when I’m finally done filling the pages.

For my first custom Trikky, I’m rather proud of him. I’m planning the second one already but I’ll be going back to embroidery and starting/finishing a fairytale wreath before I get back into Trikky work.
