This is what I’ve been working on recently. Yes, it’s Cinderella. As you can see, I have branched out to using sequins and bugle beads. I hope to continue expanding my repertoire as well as my sequin stash.
I hope to be done this soon. I was planning on doing a Rose Red and Snow White piece afterwards but The Little Mermaid keeps haunting me. We’ll see what I’ll do after this is done.
This is something I’ve made for my wonderful friend, Sam. She has recently given birth to a cuddly baby boy.
I figured he can use an octopus pirate to guard his door and make sure there are no monsters under the bed. 🙂
Hello everyone! I’m back. I resolve to keep this blog updated. For now, I present Christmas stockings galore! I bought three Bucilla kits from Herrschners and have finished them in time for Christmas. My little family now has custom stockings.
More projects will be posted soon as well as WIPs. It feels good to be sewing again.
Yes, the greeting I used the PC version. I am alive and well. I finished my novel back in early December. I will begin edits right after Christmas. In the meantime, I had to let the manuscript sit. While it sat, I felt like I needed more holiday stress. I began this Bucilla kit and finished it in a week and a half. Yes I pretty much killed myself. I believe this kit is meant to be finished in at least two weeks or more. I was determined to have it hung on our front door by Christmas and lo and behold, it’s up!
I’ve changed the pattern and made my tweaks to make it my own. I hope you all are with loved ones and having that wonderful epic holiday meal you look forward to all year long. I may be starting more embroidery projects in the new year but it all depends on the editing of my novel. 🙂
I have been slaving over this piece for months now. Due to recurring migraines and shoddy health, it was only recently that I have finished it. This is heavily beaded and I am quite pleased at how it turned out.
I will be going on vacation soon. I pray the migraines stay away I don’t know yet what to do next. Any suggestions? 🙂
I hope you are all well!
2012 is underway. I find myself floundering. By this time last year, I have been extremely bitten and consumed by the embroidery bug. It was all I did in 2011. Health issues have stalled/stopped my creative engine. Snow White and Hansel & Gretel have been stalled indefinitely on my embroidery shelf. I still have the giveaway in progress as well. Taking care of my two year old has also consumed much of my time. She is much more mobile now. With my projects stalled, I began to pursue cooking/baking and it became my outlet for much of this year.
At the moment, I find myself needing to focus and narrow down what I want to do. Doing embroidery full time is no longer doable. I just don’t have the time and the dexterity. My hands are starting to get tired. I want to limit myself to three works a year tops. I’m not abandoning it but I am going to be more choosy about what I’ll be working on.
I want to finish writing my novel. I’m stalled at 45000 words. I’m halfway done. I need to finish. I’ve set a personal deadline of August.
I want to pursue art again and this time in digital form. I want to create digital art. I have a tablet but I never felt comfortable with it. My husband recently got an Ipad and I really enjoyed making art with it. I like seeing where my fingers go. It’s the closest to traditional art I’ve ever experienced. Using the tablet forced me to divide my attention between the blank slate and the screen. With the Ipad, I just need to look in one place. I want to produce enough art again to restart my etsy shop.
I want to sew doll clothes again just for myself. I have a stack of books I want to explore and there are designs/patterns in my sketchbook unfulfilled.
On a personal note, I also have my road test coming up soon. I need to pass that first. This is the week after Anime North for which I need to finish 21 octopi, a cosplay entry, and a cosplay. Yes, I’ve been really busy. I hope to surface for air when I pass my road test.
I hope you all are well! Have you also somehow lost focus in your creative pursuits? I’d love to read about it.
Christmas is just two sleeps away. If I had a stocking and Santa could miraculously read my mind, this is what I’d want:
- 15 balls of DMC #8 Perle Cotton Embroidery Thread
- Various Miyuki beads
- Long Stretcher Bars to make more canvas (12″- 24″)
- More 10/0 Czech Glass beads
- A plastic container from Swiss Chalet (I use this to store my stock of DMC #8 Perle Cotton balls)
What do you want in your crafty Christmas stocking? Yes, I know. Chocolates aren’t crafty but they are crafty fuel. 🙂
The 12″ hoop with the white patterned fabric is for Snow White. The colourful covered canvas (18″ x 10″) is for Hansel and Gretel. They are ready to go!
I will be double-fisting these projects. Snow White will have a lot of white work and the colour palette will be red, black, peach, and white. I’m thinking of adding another colour to the mix but overall it will be a simple palette.
Hansel & Gretel will be an explosion of colours and beads. I just know it.
Are you planning anything special projects after Christmas?
These are the two inspiring pieces that is leading me down the path of learning stumpwork.
Emily of Flossbox’s newest piece:
Click on the two photos. They will take you to Flossbox and to Crafter.org, respectively. These two artists are so amazing. I can’t help but be inspired! I am now planning out stumpwork for Snow White. Wish me luck. This project will take a loooong time. XD
