Too many projects, too little time

February 28th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

This weekend was spent fabric shopping with a wonderful friend Ashley and her two beautiful girls. Looking at all the fabric at Quilt Junction was heavenly. Naturally, a ton of ideas for projects blossomed.  I still have 5 more gifts on the docket and a long list of future projects for embroidery.

One particular newish source of a fountain of new ideas is my little 10 month old baby girl. I have so many ideas about how to finish her bedroom. It’s still not done and is in a state of disarray. I also want to make little hair clips for her in the future mainly because my talented friend Ashley inspired me. Ashley made hair clips for Natalie and they are actually staying in. They’re also ridiculously cute on her head. The husband says I have too much on my plate at the moment. He assures me I can get supplies once my gift list is done.

There are days when I wish I can split myself into three- one to draw, one to sew, and one to write. I can never seem to have enough time to get all my creativity out.

Without a Voice

I had the biggest urge to sketch last night and this is the result. It’s inspired by a friend’s comment to a photo I posted a while ago. There will be a sewn companion piece that will complement this in the future. I have the itch to draw something really large that I can work on a little bit a day but do I have time?

Sometimes I wish I had enough time to devote to writing, drawing, and sewing. If I could split myself into three pieces and have those three creative pieces just work away… Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

Jorja!

February 25th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

I had to redo Jorja’s name. I really didn’t like how it got lost in the print. I’m so much happier with it now. I also need to buy bigger beads. The seedbeads I have are too small to sew for my handsewing needles. I’m really pleased now with the overall look. I spent last night redoing it. I’ll start Leah’s hoop on Monday. I need to sketch it out first but I do know her name will be in balloons.

99% Done

I believe it is 99% done. I will be adding tiny touches to this before I start on Leah’s. It turned out quite cute and I’m happy with it.

Jorja WIP

February 23rd, 2011 § 1 comment § permalink

This is a gift for Jorja. The mini version of her is laid out. It’s not done yet. Her hair needs to be embroidered, her face, as well as the detailing on her top. She will have a “special friend” also in the picture. Her name will be on a giant chocolate heart. I hope to be done by the end of the week. I hope she and her mummy like it.

Next on the docket

February 22nd, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Here’s my to-do list:

Gifts:

  1. Jorja (Hoop prepared)
  2. Leah (Hoop prepared)
  3. Carmela (Need to find the right fabric)
  4. Drew (Need to find the right fabric)
  5. Nicole (Fabric chosen, canvas size chosen)

Fairy Tales:

  1. Remember the Stroke of Midnight – Rococo Cinderella (Started and unfinished)
  2. Part of Your World – Little Mermaid (Small Hoop)
  3. Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? – Red Riding Hood (XL Hoop)
  4. Chinese Zodiac (Large Canvas)

I hope to finish all the gifts first before I even return to personal projects. I thought I had the fabric for Carmela but it turned out too dark. It’ll be used for the Little Mermaid project instead. I need to shop for Carmela and Drew’s fabric still.

Threads!

February 21st, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

My threads are slowly being organized. I still need more plastic bobbins for the bundles of thread I still have left. Batches of purples, greens, reds, and pinks are still unspun. I have to say spinning the yarn into these plastic bobbins are so relaxing.

I hope I can start ironing out fabric tonight and putting it into hoops for personal projects I have lined up. Rococo Cinderella will be put on hold until I finish all of these gifts I have planned. I need to plan out each layout. They all will have varying elements but the layouts will be the same except for one which is a unique request. Since I have the fabric picked for the two sisters Jorja and Leah, I will be starting theirs first. Carmela and Drew will follow then a canvas piece for Nicole.

Little Progress

February 17th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Little progress has been made. I’ve finished the skirt and as you can see, have done dainty little eyelashes for Cinderella. I hope to get the other side of the skirt started. I have my hands full fighting off sinus issues and a little 10-month old who has learned to throw massive crying tantrums. Busy, busy! Unfortunately at the end of the night, when I have my free time, I just want to snuggle with the husband and play Little Big Planet 2 to unwind. I want to get more sewing done and hope to do some free-hand embroidery again tonight.

A Possible DIY project?

February 16th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

I have organizational woes as well as being sick with sinus problems. I bought a nicely priced rolling storage with three drawers to store my felt. The problem is that the drawers are too deep. I need to sort the felt in each drawer via paper trays. I went to the local dollar store and was hoping to pick some up but there weren’t any. I will probably end up making diy trays. I also plan to customize the storage unit itself. I really adore customizing things.

As for the embroidery, it is still slow going. I will post updates sporadically since it’s so slow going. I hope to work on it tonight. The last two nights, the husband and I were spending quality time playing Little Big Planet 2. Embroidery is scheduled for this evening!
